Dr. Teague Cowley is a licensed clinical psychologist in Utah with a deep commitment to trauma-informed care, psychological assessment, and integrative therapeutic approaches. He earned his Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, an APA-accredited program where he also completed a focused track in Police & Public Safety Psychology. His undergraduate work was completed at California State University – Monterey Bay, where he graduated with distinction in Psychology.

Dr. Cowley’s postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) included intensive rotations across youth and adult inpatient psychiatry, residential care, and day treatment. He provided psychotherapy, family interventions, and neuropsychological evaluations within both Youth and Adult Services. Prior to that, he completed an APA-accredited internship at Southwest Behavioral Health Center, where he facilitated youth Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), provided individual therapy, and conducted psychological assessments for clients across the lifespan.

Earlier in his training, Dr. Cowley provided pre-employment psychological evaluations for law enforcement candidates through the California Department of Human Services, contributing to public safety through psychological risk assessment. He has also served in school-based counseling roles, where he utilized animal-assisted therapy and supported youth in educational settings with individual and group therapy.

Dr. Cowley’s doctoral dissertation examined the effectiveness of pre-employment psychological testing in predicting police academy and field training outcomes, contributing to evidence-based approaches in public safety selection practices.

Beyond his clinical background, Dr. Cowley brings a diverse and dynamic history of professional and life experience that informs his therapeutic style. He previously served for six years with the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, both as a volunteer and program leader for burn survivor retreats. In that role, he curated program content aimed at improving distress tolerance and emotional resilience for adult burn survivors, supporting long-term recovery and community reintegration.

From 2005 to 2011, Dr. Cowley was a sponsored alpine adaptive ski racer with the National Ability Center in Park City, UT. Training and competing internationally, he worked as a public speaker, fundraiser, and adaptive sports advocate, helping individuals with disabilities integrate recreation and sport into their rehabilitation and overall well-being. This experience cultivated his enduring commitment to adaptive and integrative mental health services.

Prior to his clinical career, Dr. Cowley also co-founded Tunnel Post, a post-production firm in Santa Monica serving major film and television clients. As a founding partner and staff colorist, he led client services and visual storytelling for major creative productions. Earlier, he held leadership and business development roles at Silicon Color, a film software company later acquired by Apple Inc.
